Camping in Yellowstone
This summer we were very brave and took our 8 month old camping! We currently live in a very hot, dry climate, so we thought some cool fresh mountain air would do us all good. My husband worked at different camps when he was younger and has been missing his camp friends, so we planned a trip!
We flew to Idaho Falls and drove the rest of the way to Yellowstone. Sonny does great on flights, so that was nice! And he slept the whole way to camp! As soon as we got in our rental car I immediately rolled the windows down and stuck my head out, letting my hair tangle up in the wind. Oh, that felt nice! I don't know about other mamas, but after I had Sonny I'm still like 20 degrees hotter.
I loved loved loved the weather in Yellowstone. It was 70 degrees, and it even rained a little when we were there. I love rain more than sunshine. I always have. It makes me very happy! I know, its weird.
It was so nice seeing my husband in his element! He even put on his camp uniform one day. 💘
He introduced me to everyone and we walked around the camp. Sonny loved looking up at the big, dark green Douglas Furs! In the main lodge there were a few stuffed bear heads and things like that (I don't know if there's a nicer way to say that). Sonny was mesmerized by them!
It was very dirty and there were a lot of scouts walking around so I wouldn't let Sonny crawl around very much and he got really frustrated. My advice to anyone is to wait to camp until your child can walk! We still had a lovely time. We made fires, s'mores, listened to camp stories, went to church in the mountains.. so many fun things!
My mind always becomes clearer when I'm out in the wilderness. I can put things into perspective more easily. I am so grateful we were able to spend time together as a family in this beautiful land. Here are a few pictures from out trip!
